per aspera ad astra

The other day, we got to see the International Space Station fly over our house in Colorado. I used a nifty little app called “Spot the Station” that used augmented reality to show me exactly when and where to, yes, spot the International Space Station. Even though we could not see more than a big blob of light traveling quite quickly through the dark sky, I was in awe – literally starstruck!

So, as the ISS moved through space above us, it carried seven astronauts from three different countries across both sections, who peacefully completed their missions aboard. Even though the whole viewing lasted mere minutes, I thought it amazing.

When the ISS disappeared, a single shooting star appeared in its place. I know that’s hard to believe, but we both saw it, and we could not believe it either. A truly unique experience that teaches us that we can work and live together if we share a common goal.

And the shooting star was pretty amazing.
